A LITTLE CONTEXT First:
To begin:
This site is very much a work in progress. My apologies for the clutter and confusion out of which I hope this site will rise, like a digital phoenix from coding ashes.
From about 2005 to 2016 I blogged fairly regularly. I blogged elsewhere, under a moniker, reviewing London theatre productions I’d been lucky to see and British TV drama I’d loved, or at least enjoyed. I wrote screeds upon screeds on Doctor Who, whilst both Russell T. Davies and then Stephen Moffat were at the helm. Then, in 2016, life intervened and I stopped blogging completely.
In our streaming-addicted world yesterday’s dramas are just a click away, yesteryear’s broadcasts repeating at the press of a touchscreen. If the shows are still gripping, enticing and well made why shouldn’t their review – written way back when – still inform or entertain? If the art itself isn’t transient, why should its review be so?
I’m hoping these reviews can find a new audience, and that reposting them can inspire me to start reviewing once again.
& lastly:
C.P.V. is yet another culture-loving Londoner who is writing a novel. Many moons ago she did some freelance journalism, and got an MA in creative writing, before a job in the hospitality industry bludgeoned her muse into a coma. She is keeping her fingers crossed that the bright spark of creativity, which once flared, can be reignited.
